WOMANIST GOD TALK
 Dr. Linda Thomas 
Textbook: Jezebel Unhinged: Loosing the Black Female Body in Religion and Culture.
 Jezebel is a woman in the bible that has been used as an evil stereotype of Black women. These images often reinforce cultural and institutional power to define and discipline Black girlhood and womanhood. Students will engage the original biblical story and explore media and contemporary church use of Jezebel in it's demonization of Black women’s bodies.

Come continue the journey of the life and ministry of the first of the Major Prophets, and how Isaiah gives us insight into the Israelites' understanding of God as great, powerful and the God who exercises universal dominion over God’s people. Come learn how God’s grace and mercy over the Israelite people still extends to us when we turn away from evil and live righteously before God.

TRANSLATIONS OF THE WORD: MULTILINGUALISM AND THE BIBLE

The sacred text, the Bible, is traditionally read through a monolingual worldview, which has been white, european, western. We have excluded multicultural and multilingual understanding and translation of the Bible. This piece is critical to global liberation theologians. In this class, students will examine texts from the perspective of linguistic anthropology.

YOGA AND SPIRITUALITY: EMBRACING MIND, BODY AND SOUL

Jesus provided a blueprint for us, not only how to treat one another, but also how to treat ourselves. Jesus was the master of REST! Balance in mind, body and spirit are critical to our well being in a society where OVER productivity is valued. Students will learn the spiritual dimensions of yoga and engage in the actual physical practice of yoga.
